This Great Divide

In moments I would be accelerating away from the only safe cove I had ever known, fearing I would never be able to find the road back, knowing that turning around even at that moment could not satisfy the swell within me. In the instant that you break your own heart like kindling over your knee and cast it behind you because of the discomfort of a single splinter -- entangled with the decision to start anew rather than waiting to heal, you may appreciate the essence of love. If not, you have already succumbed to contempt.
